Mary “Penny” Fowler Long, age 78, passed away March 4, 2022 at the Heirloom Inn in Price, Utah.

She was born on May 8, 1943 in Standardville, Utah to Jay H. and Mary Jones Fowler.

Penny moved to California in 1967 where she was employed by Kaiser Hospital.  It was in California where she met the love of her life, Loren L. Long.  They later moved to Grand Junction, Colorado.

There wasn’t an animal that she didn’t love, they were all her babies!  Her strong will and fiery personality will be greatly missed.  Her love of family and her generosity could not be measured.

Survived by her sisters, JayLene (Angelo) Marakis, Ricki (Jeff) Palmer; nieces and nephews, Lisa (Tom) Gazell, Angelo Marakis, Lindsay (Tyler) Grundy, Taylor (Neil) Allred, KyLeigh Thompson, Halyn (Chase) Sherman, Kris, Bryan, Josh and many great-great-nieces and nephews who she adored!

She was preceded in death by her husband, Loren; parents, Jay and Mary Fowler; brother, Jay, Jr.; and nephew, Casey Marakis.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Carrie and the nurses, aides and staff at the Heirloom Inn. She loved you all.  In lieu of flowers please donate to the Carbon County Animal Shelter, 2900 North Airport Road, Price, Utah 84501.

Funeral service, Wednesday, March 9, 2022, 11:00 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service.  Interment, Valley View Cemetery, Sunnyside.  Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
