The Carbon High School FFA is excited to host Donkey Basketball on March 23 at Carbon High School at 6:00 pm. Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with FFA Members, Macey Fivecoat and Dmitri Bordea to discuss all the details.
“Well Donkey Basketball is a great event that our Carbon High School holds, where we have six to eight teams on people on each side riding donkeys and just playing basketball,” said Bordea. The teams are made up of students, faculty, staff and members of the community so its always a surprise for guests to see who the players will be the night of the event. The basketball games are sure to be fun for the entire family, with lots of laughs, thrills and spills.
Admission rates to the event are very affordable, they can be purchased at the door and will benefit Carbon High FFA. “So for adults it is $9.00, for the students, which is seventh grade through twelfth it’s $7.00, and then for the child which is K through sixth is $6.00, and then 4 and under are free,” said Fivecoat. Tickets are available at Carbon High School, from any FFA Member or at the door the day of the event. There will be local dance companies performing during half-time and in between the scheduled games.
All the proceeds from the concession stand to admission from the door will benefit the Carbon High FFA organization. “Donkey Basketball is our biggest fundraiser for the year. It carries through all our leadership activities. This is where we get our money for our competition registrations, and for our hotel fees if we need them, like this is a big thing. It also goes back to our educational programs and Carbon FFA. Its goes to the FFA Scholarship that is held for seniors at the end of the year,” said Fivecoat. The next competition for Carbon FFA students will be held in April for the State Career Development Event.
