
The Carbon soccer season got going on Tuesday in Manti as the Dinos met the Templars. Manti jumped out to a quick 3-1 lead by half time and the Dinos could not over come the Templars offense losing 3-2 and starting the 2022 campaign 0-1.
The Templars ended last season 14-3 overall and 11-1 in region play landing themselves in the No. 3 position in the season ending RPI, they ended up dropping their semi-final match against No. 14 Summit Academy, 1-0.
As for the Dinos last year ended with the No. 7 spot in the RPI and drew a match-up with the No. 10 Juab Wasps. The contest ended in regulation with a 1-1 tie and the Wasps would go on to win 5-4 in a shootout.
In the contest with Manti, the Dinos would find the back of the goal twice, once in each quarter off of the feet of Maxence Trikills and Edwin Acosta-Sanchez.
Manti scored three goals all in the first half from Kyle Steinfeldt, Auturo Ruiz and Devontae Cruz.
The Dinos will now become road warriors as their next six contest will take place away from Carbon High School, beginning Thursday in St. George for three days of tournament play.
Region play will start on March 15 when they will travel to Richfield, followed by road games with Emery (March 18) and Canyon View (March 22).
Carbon will be back home on March 24 to face Grand. Game time is set for 4 p.m..
