Coming off a big win on Wednesday against Beaver, the Lady Spartans returned home to face the Duchesne Eagles in Castle Dale, Thursday. Things did not go as planned for the Spartans as they struggled on the offensive side of the ball only coming up with two runs falling 13-2.

The Eagles are a powerhouse team from 2A that finished last season at 19-8 and 10-0 in region play. Emery and Duchesne faced each other last year with the Spartans coming out on top 9-8.

In the game on Thursday, both teams were unable to put any points up in the first inning. In the top of the second the Eagles erupted putting eight on the board.

The Spartans scattered ten hits over six innings with Tylee Norton and Brooklynn Ekker the only players for Emery to cross the plate. Cambrie Jensen had the only RBI for the Spartans in the loss.

For Duchesne, Lexi Morlan went 3-4 scoring three runs and posting five RBI’s.

On the mound for the Spartans Madisyn Childs and Jensen split duties. Jensen would take the loss putting in four innings of work giving up 11 runs (10 earned) on nine hits and stuck out four. Childs went two innings giving up two earned runs on three hits and stuck out four.

Emery now takes off until Mar. 16, when they will travel to Nephi to face Juab.
