world-water-day

The Green Team of Carbon County is excited to be hosting a World Water Day Celebration on Tuesday, March 22 from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm at the River Pavilion in Helper. This event is open to the entire community and will feature some great activities, education and a river clean-up opportunity. Event Organizer, Kristi Mingus took time to stop by Castle Country Radio to discuss all the details.

“We wanted to have an educational event where we have some local experts share information on water, it’s an important resource. Since we’ve been in a drought for a while just conserving water, how water runs through a watershed, different plants that are good for your lawn, like xeriscaping or water-wise plants. Those are topics that will be covered at the event and we’ll also have a river clean-up, and so we’ll provide supplies for a little clean-up with bags and gloves,” stated Mingus. This gathering is to share information about conservation and to give back to the community.

There are also some activities like Nature Journaling that will be featured for guests to enjoy. “So there’s a Helper Nature Journaling Club that has offered to do an activity at this event for all ages. We’ll also have trivia going on down there. Just so you can learn a little bit more about water and there will be some interactive booths as well,” said Mingus. This gathering is free and would be a great way for families to learn about water and the importance of this natural resource.

The Green Team of Carbon County is a local organization that is concerned about the environment. They offer several recycling trailers around the county to help folks with recycling efforts. “In the trailers with the Green Team you can recycle paper and aluminum cans, and that’s about all the trailers accept. If you want to recycle cardboard there’s a place to drop of corrugated cardboard at Market Express in Price,” said Mingus. There are 10 trailers located in the county a few can be found at Sutherlands, ETV News, Prehistoric Museum, plus one is located in the bowling alley parking lot on Carbonville Road. There are a few recycle trailers located near area schools as well.
