The Carbon County Republican Party recently held their Caucus on March 8 and Chairman, Jae Potter stopped by Castle Country Radio to discuss the details plus share some very important dates with listeners.
“It was very well attended, precincts were represented, we put our leadership into place and also our state and county delegates were elected. So we are ready to go,” stated Potter. Organizers of the Caucus were thrilled with the turnout and feel that things for this election are ready to move forward.
The Republican Primary is on June 28, with ballots being sent out June 7 through June 21 and early voting will take place June 14 through June 24. “But in Utah the Republican Party is a closed primary, and so you do have to be a registered Republican to vote in as a full Republican candidate. That deadline to register is March 31, so it’s coming up really quick Dave,” said Potter. It’s important that if you plan to vote in the primary that you get registered on or before Thursday, March 31.
“Doesn’t matter if they are affiliated or non-affiliated at this point in time. They can go to the County Administration Building and fill out a form that will be added to the list. Or they can go to https://vote.utah.gov/ and register online, which is very, very simple. So those are the two main methods of getting registered to vote,” stated Potter. Any further questions or concerns about voting can be answered by visiting the Carbon County Clerk’s Office at 751 East 100 North, Suite #1100 or call them at (435) 636-3200.
There will be a Lincoln Day Dinner scheduled to take place on Friday, April 1 at 6:30 pm at the USU Eastern’s Jennifer Leavitt Student Center. “What will happen is with the Lincoln Day Dinner, it is a fundraiser, but it’s also that time frame with candidates can distribute their information, have a good group gathering and talk to people. We will hear in both those venues we’ll hear from the candidates – short, we’re talking three minutes per candidate, so we don’t want it to be an all night event but it should be a very nice dinner catered obviously with the university,” stated Potter. The evening will feature a guest speaker which will be Governor Spencer J. Cox. The cost for the dinner is $20.00 for single or $35.00 for a couple. Tickets may be purchased from Jae Potter or Tina Urbanik.
