On Friday the Lady Spartans went 2-1 at the March Warm Up Classic in St. George. Waking up Saturday morning knowing they still had two games left with Dixie and Altamont. Emery played well in both games taking the win over Dixie 11-7 and then later in the day defeating Altamont 13-1.

The Spartans finished the weekend going 4-1 and pushing their overall record to 5-3. The tournament was a way for the Spartans to show off their offense averaging just under 12 runs in every game including the loss, while on the defensive side they gave up less than five runs a contest.

Starting out on Saturday the Lady Spartans faced the Dixie Flyers, a 4A team from St. George. Emery picked up right where they left off from the day before taking an 11-7 win.

Emery got off to a quiet start putting a single run on the board in the bottom of the seventh. They would then come alive in the third adding another three, all the while holding Dixie from crossing the plate until the fifth and sixth inning, when the Flyers racked up seven runs in just two innings.

Emery came firing back in the final inning to score four runs and secure the win .

Cambrie Jensen and Brynlei Luke each sent one over the fence, with Jensen going 3-4, driving in three and scoring one. Luke was 2-3 at the plate, with two runs and one RBI.

Aspen Taylor got the start for Emery going 5.2 giving up seven runs on 10 hits and struck out four. Jensen came in the game and went 1.1 allowing one hit and struck out one.

In the final game of the weekend Emery faced Altamont and finished them off 13-1 in five innings.

The Spartans scored methodically in the first four innings, but exploded on offense in the fifth putting six runs up on Altamont.

Jensen would once again go yard for the Lady Spartans with three RBI’s. Brooklynn Ekker would also find the parking lot going 2-4 with two runs and two RBI”s. and Tylee Norton was 3-4 from the plate with three runs and an RBI.

Jensen would once again be on the bump getting the complete game win surrendering four hits and on earned run striking out one.

Next up for the Spartans they will get the region schedule started on Wednesday to take on the Grand County Red Devils.

The first pitch is set to be thrown at 3 p.m..
