The Carbon Dinos played host to 16 schools for the final home meet of the season, the Carbon Invitational, Friday afternoon.
Welcoming in a deep pool of talent the Carbon Lady Dinos were once again the superior squad on the girl’s side of the track, accumulating 187 points. Union was a distant second with 86 points, followed by North Summit’s 78. Juan Diego and Altamont rounded out the top five.
The Carbon boy’s team completed the sweep of the afternoon as they gathered 126 to top second place Union’s 80. North Summit, Juan Diego and South Sevier completed the top five.
Haylee Prescott dominated the evening as she took home first place in three events including the long jump, high jump and 200 meters. The three top nods were just the beginning for an all-around stellar team performance.
Haley Garrish continued to stack points in the throwing events as she finished first in both the shot put and discus.
Lyndee Mower, Mia Crompton, Eminie Elliot and Amiah Timothy combined to take first in the 4X100 as Carbon finished with a time of 52.37. Lindsey Jespersen topped teammate Kinlee Lewis in the 300 meter hurdles to give the Lady Dinos a one-two finish in the running event.
Kobe Cruz led the way for the Carbon boy’s team with multiple top finishes. Cruz won the 1600 meters by finishing with a time of a 4:42.27. He added another win in the 800 meters with a time of 2:07.53.
Easton Humes grabbed the top spot in the 400 meters as he finished with a time of 52.9 seconds. Bradley Wood secured first in the shot put and Bowden Robinson gave the team another elite finish by ending first in the javelin.
Both Carbon teams have set an incredible pace to the 2022 season, including the girls who have yet to lose a meet. Both teams will take the majority of the week off, before traveling to Nephi for the Juab Invitational on Saturday.
