Price City Councilman Layne Miller and Megan Marshall stopped by the KOAL Newsroom for an in-studio interview to talk about the first ever Renaissance Fair that will be held in Price at the Peace Gardens on Saturday, May 7.
When asked why a Renaissance Fair, Marshall stated “We had spoken to the Salt Lake City Crusaders last year trying to get them to come down to Price for Culture Connection.” With a large following on YouTube, the Salt Lake City Crusaders do battle in full steel garments dressed as knights using axes and swords where they battle each other.
During the show in Price, there will be two 45 minute shows taking place. “Just watching them compete is so thrilling, it’s so fierce, it’s something you don’t want to miss,” says Marshall. In addition to the show there will be music and food vendors including a beer garden.
Councilman Miller explained how this exciting event will take place downtown. “We’ll close Main Street, we’ll take the whole Peace Gardens, we’ll take the parking lots, we’ll even move into the parking lot that’s back by the museum. So that whole thing will be like a renaissance village.” They also encourage people to dress up for the event.
Price City is still looking for vendors for this event, however all vendors need to have products or services that are renaissance fair theme related. For more information on the event, or to register as a vendor, go to pricecityutah.com. All vendor registration fees will be waived, but pre-registration will be required.
Marshall stated that not only will the Salt Lake Crusaders entertain the crowd, but there will be fire performers and a blacksmith who will bring a full forge to demonstrate the making of knives. This event should be fun for the entire family in downtown Price.
