The Lady Spartans started off a very busy week on Tuesday when they welcomed the Richfield Wildcats to town. Cambrie Jensen turned in another gem on the mound allowing just three hits as she pitched five shutout innings and propelled the Spartans to their eighth overall win and third region victory, 10-0.

Emery is riding a seven game winning streak headed into a two games in as many days against teams that made a deep playoff run last season, Manti and Carbon.

On Tuesday, the Spartans and Wildcats both went scoreless in a very quiet first inning, it wasn’t until the bottom of the second that Emery would score their first run.

Emery would use pitching and their defense to keep Richfield off the board for the remainder of the contest, and put up nine more including a big fifth inning when they put up four runs and ended the day with the Wildcats in five.

Tylee Norton went 3-3 with one run and an RBI. Brooklynn Ekker was 2-4 including a home run with a couple RBI’s.  Jensen helped her own cause going 1-2 with two RBI’s and Jaylnn Fox was 1-1 with four RBI’s in the Spartan win.

The Lady Spartans will get back on the field on Thursday when they travel to Manti to face the Templars, last years 3A runner-up.
