On Friday the Lady Dinos and Spartans faced off on the field in Huntington for the first time this season. Carbon needed just four innings to take care of the Lady Spartans. Haven Byerly pitched a gem allowing no hits and no runs as the Dinos moved their season record to 11-3 and a 2-0 Region 12 mark.

Carbon got started in the first inning putting 10 runs up on the board. Makayla Scovill added four RBI’s in the contest. Maddix Whiteside and Gabrielle Vasquez each had three RBI’s in the huge win for the Dinos.

Emery just couldn’t get anything started on the offensive side, unable to find a hit in the contest with Carbon.

On the defensive side, it didn’t get much easier as the Spartans used two pitchers. Madisyn Childs took the loss going three innings giving up 14 runs (13 earned)  on 13 hits. Aspen Taylor came in going one inning giving up two hits and one earned.

Earlier in the day on Friday, the Utah High School Activities Association released it;s initial RPI  in which the Dinos landed in the top spot and the Spartans were in the No. 3 spot.

After the game with Carbon the Spartans headed to Payson for a tournament where they played four games on Saturday.

The Dinos are now off until April 12 due to the Spring Break holiday. They will head back to the field to take on Canyon View at home.
