The Carbon Tennis squad traveled south over the weekend taking part in The St. George Invitational along with nine other teams from around the state. The first day the competition was difficult with Carbon facing Ogden,  Waterford Academy and Cedar City and the Dinos came away winless. On day two Carbon entered the Silver Bracket and was able to put together five wins.

“The first day Ogden, Waterford and Cedar were all good teams. We did our best and learned a lot, but didn’t win any matches that day. The second day we were put in the Silver Bracket playing against various teams. We won 3 out of five first round matches that day, much improved”, said Carbon coach Pete Riggs.

Moving into the second day, the Dinos picked up four wins in the ten matches they played. Derrick Jorgensen earned an 8-5 victory over the 1st singles player from Bear River as did Cameron Jones in 3rd singles 8-1 over Bear River as well. In their 2nd doubles match Garrett Bryner and Dresden Miller earned an 8-6 win over the team from Delta.

In round two, Cameron Jones took an 8-6 win over his opponent from Delta.

Carbon tennis will be off until April 14 when they will welcome Gunnison to the courts in Price, time is set for 3:30 p.m..
