The local 4-H Program is excited to host an event announcing all the fun activities that will take place during the summer months. The event will be held at the King Koal Theater on May 4 at 3:30 pm till 6:00 pm. Coordinator, DeLayna Barr took time to come into Castle Country Radio to discuss all the details.
The 4-H Youth Council was the driving force behind this event to formally announce the summer programs to families in the county. “This is a free event and you do not have to be a member of 4-H, we just want to tell you what we’ve got planned, we want you to come join. So this is May the Fourth at 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm at the King Koal Theater and we’ll be watching Star Wars: A New Hope. We’ll have a STEM activity there and then we will have the unveiling of our summer,” stated Barr. This is a perfect opportunity to learn about what the 4-H Program can do for your child during the summer months. Again, the movie event is open to the entire community and is made possible thru the Teen Sphere of Influence Grant.
A sneak peek at one of the big events taking place during the summer was shared by Barr, “We do have Summer Camp that’s going to be June 2 and of course our theme is going to be Star Wars, so Feel the Force of 4-H and we’re going to have STEM projects, drones, paper pod racing, galactic slime, rocket launching, light savers. It’s going to be great. So that’s June 2 here at USU Eastern,” explained Barr. Other summer activities include a babysitting club, board game theory, STEM camp and alpacas just to name a few.
If you are unable to wait for the summer kick-off event then you can join a Hiking Club now. “Well in April we are starting a hiking club and Jo Varner is our volunteer for that. It’s going to start in April and go through August. It’s $12.00 and you’ll get a hat, a drawstring bag and Jo is from this area and she knows a lot of fun places. We’ll go to Emery County, Carbon County, all over,” said Barr. If you would like to know what is taking place with the 4-H Program visit the Carbon County 4-H Facebook page to see what clubs are currently being offered to children ages 8 to 18 years old.
