Carbon High School was highlighted on this week’s Carbon School District weekly update so Principal Jared Hardy stopped by Castle Country Radio to discuss the upcoming drama production, shared details about graduation and where construction stands at this point.
“Our Drama Department is putting on another school play, they just recently got done with Little Mermaid, which usually would have been done in the Fall, but our construction delayed that. So they are taking on another one in a fairly short amount of time, they’re going to be putting on a play called Almost, Maine on April 21st and 22nd on both nights, it will be 7:00 pm, adults will be $7.00 and kids 2-18 years old will be $5.00,” stated Principal Hardy. Ticket sales will be done similar to how Little Mermaid was sold and that is online. You can access the link to the online ticket sales by visiting Carbon High’s website at https://www.carbonschools.org
This year’s high school graduation will be held on Wednesday, March 25 at 6:00 pm at the high school’s football stadium. “Our hope is to be on the football field and if there’s inclement weather we’ll go into the auditorium. Based off the graduation class right now it looks like students will get four tickets for family members. There’s a chance to get one or two extra tickets in May there will be a form that goes out for students who want to request extra tickets, that will come out sometime in May. Two of those tickets they’ll get will be called Priority Tickets that in the case we have to go inside the auditorium because of weather, then those are the two tickets that would be allowed to come in,” stated Hardy. School officials are hoping plans will go smoothly and that graduation will be held outdoors this year.
The finishing touches of construction are taking place with some upgrades stretching out into the summer. “We’re really close, we’re just finishing up a new Graphic Arts room, finishing up some punch list items in the building, and this summer we’re going to do some minor renovations in our Science Labs and we should be all done, completely done by end of the summer,” stated Principal Hardy. The school hopes to have an open house for the public to come see the new addition sometime next school year.
