Carbon tennis is making their way through the season with regular region match-ups and tournament play. Last Friday they traveled to Grantsville for matches with three other schools form the north, Stansbury Park, Grantsville and Juab. Going 1-2 on the day the Dinos struggled in the final two matches but gained quality experience against good competition.
In the first set of matches against Stansbury Park, the Dinos won in first singles with Derrick Jorgensen earning the 8-5 victory. Alex Callahan and Zac Gregersen won their first doubles match 9-8 winning in a tie break 9-7, and in second doubles Garrett Bryner and Nathan Baudin won 9-7.
The Dinos next opponent was Grantsville, Carbon failed to earn a win and also lost 3rd Singles player Braden Scovill to a leg injury in the second set. Grantsville is a good program with three of their teams (singles and doubles) appearing in the 3A RPI.
The final matches of the day were with Juab and once again Carbon could not find a win in the five matches. The 1st doubles team of Callahan and Gregersen lost the first set 6-3 and went in to a tiebreak but would end up losing the second set 6-4 (10-5).
The Dinos will jump back in to region competition when they travel to Moab on Tuesday to face Grand.
On Thursday the will welcome San Juan to Price in a non-region match, time is set for 3:30.
