With a win on Thursday against Grand, the Dinos soccer squad could claim the Region 12 title, but first things first, on Tuesday they welcomed Canyon View to the pitch in Price. The Dinos jumped out to a quick lead and carried it all the way through the contest winning 3-1.
The Dinos found the back of the net three times in the first half with goals from the feet of Tyler Morris, Miguel Ordonez and Jackson Griffeth. Jackson Smith offered up an assist as well.
Grand came back in the second half scoring one goal but on the defensive side Carbon limited them to the single score.
Carbon is now sitting at 7-5 and 6-1 in region play. The RPI has been removed from view and won’t be available until April 27, when the final seeding for the state tournament will be released.
The Dinos will head back to the field on Thursday when they travel on the road to Moab to face the Grand County Red Devils. This will be the second and final time the two teams will play in the regular season. Back on March 24 in Price, Carbon got the better of the Red Devils 3-1. If the Dinos were to win this contest they would earn the Region 12 title.
Carbon will wrap up the regular season on Monday on the road in Roosevelt as they face Union.
The playoffs are scheduled to start on April 29 at home sites and will conclude with the State Championship game at Rio Tinto on May 11.
