The Lady Spartans found themselves in Cedar City on Tuesday to face region competition in Canyon View. In their second meeting of the regular season, this was a game that was really up for grabs throughout. Tied at 10-10 in the sixth the two teams would end up going to extra innings to earn the 14-10 win.

Back in March when the Canyon View Falcons visited the Spartans, Emery would get the better of that match-up, 7-3.

The contest on Tuesday started out pretty innocently with everyone battling the elements. Cambrie Jensen got roughed up on the mound going 4.2 giving up ten earned runs on 14 hits striking out four. Madisyn Childs came in going 4.1 surrendering one hit and striking out three.

Offensively, both teams had their bats working early, with Canyon View putting up seven runs in the first four innings. Heading into the sixth down by three runs, Emery would tie up Canyon View, and then both teams would go quiet for the eighth, forcing extras.

In the top of the ninth Emery put up four innings taking the 14-10 lead. In the bottom half of the frame Canyon View could only come up with one run.

Brooklynn Ekker drove in four runs on 3-6 hitting and scoring a run. Brynlei Luke had a terrific game driving in three going 4-5 from the plate and scoring three runs . Tylee Norton and Tajia Olsen both went yard in the win for the Spartans.

The Spartans were back on the field on Wednesday to face the Gunnison Valley Bulldogs.

They will be back on the field at home next Thursday when they welcome North Sanpete game time is set for 3:30.
