The Division of Wildlife Resources had originally scheduled a Fly-Fishing Clinic for April bass23 but had to postpone and push it out another week due to weather conditions. It will now take place on Saturday, April 30 at 9:00 am at the Division’s Southeast Regional Office on 310 North Carbonville Road in Price. Castle Country Radio was able to speak over the telephone with Conservation Outreach Manager, Aaron Bott to discuss all the details of the upcoming clinic.
“Frankly last Saturday was just too windy for a bunch of novice fly fishers to get out and about. We decided to move the event to this upcoming Saturday, that’s April 30 and it will begin at 9:00 am at our DNR Office building here in Price. We do have a few spots still open for anyone interested in registering, you can do that by going to https://www.eventbrite.com/ “stated Bott. To participate in fishing, individuals 12 years and older must have a current Utah Fishing License. Licenses can be purchased online at https://wildlife.utah.gov/
“We’re going to be having DWR Personnel hosting this event teaching, basically, everyone who has every wanted to go fly fishing, how to do it. So you don’t have to have any experience, this is the basics 101,” said Bott. Participants who own fly fishing reels and rods are encouraged to bring their personal gear, however, fishing equipment will be available for those who need it.
The morning session will feature classroom instruction and presentations. This will be followed by an opportunity to put what was learned in the morning session to use at the Carbon County Community Fishing Pond located at the Fairgrounds. Whether this is an introduction to a new activity or just brushing up on the basic practices this is a wonderful opportunity for attendees to gain insight in the art of fly fishing.
