The Region 12 golf season continued Tuesday afternoon as the five schools traveled to Oquirrh Hills Golf Course, the site of this year’s 3A State Championship.

The Richfield Wildcats once again ran away with the competition as they fired a team score of 362. Carbon continued to keep control of second place in the division with a team score of 410, topping third-place Emery by 25-strokes. Canyon View ended in fourth with a score of 478.

Carley West set the tone for Carbon as she shot a team-low 94. Grace Simms provided a solid 1-2 punch as she finished with a 99. Savanna Rasmussen was next with a 100, followed by Kaylynn Black’s 117.

Cheyenne Bingham delivered the team low score for Emery as she ended with a 102. Trin Nielson gave the team its second score with a 105, followed by Maggie Lindsay’s 113. The fourth individual score went to Kimber Gilbert with a 115.

With only one Region 12 meet remaining in the regular season, Richfield and Carbon appear to have the two automatic qualifying spots locked up for the division. The top two teams in each region are guaranteed a spot in the state tournament and the remaining spots will go to the next eight highest team averages.

Each of the competing teams will have more opportunity to strengthen their overall team score on Monday. The regular season finale will take the region to Cove View, the home course of the Richfield Wildcats.
