The Lady Spartan softball squad traveled to Moab on Friday to take on the Grand County Red Devils. After going through a long season this would be their final region game of the year, and they had already handled the Red Devils in March. This game would end differently with the Lady Spartans unable to get their offense going and losing 7-1.
Grand would jump out putting two runs on the board in the bottom of the second inning and then both sides went quiet offensively until the bottom of the fifth inning when Grand would add another four runs and then pushed the score to 7-0 headed into the top of the seventh.
Emery would head into the inning scoring it’s only run of the contest on a wild pitch bringing Cambrie Jensen home.
Brooklynn Ekker would go 2-3 in the game with both Jensen and Jalynn Fox going 1-3 in the loss.
Madisyn Childs got the start for Emery on the mound putting in five innings of work giving up six earned on 11 hits and striking out eight while Jensen came in going one inning allowing one earned on two hits.
