The Carbon Dinos survived the regular season coming out on top of Region 12 with a 9-5 record and going 7-1 in conference play, but on Wednesday a new season started and all team were 0-0 again knowing that their next loss would end the season. Carbon earned the No. 9 spot in the final RPI which meant they would be on the road for the opening round, traveling to Juan Diego in Draper. Carbon had a hard time finding the back of the net, and were outgunned by Juan Diego in the 6-0 loss.

Juan Diego turned to Emmanuel Trujillo and Jeremy Ortega who combined for a shutout between the pipes.

On the offensive side they were very balanced as they scored three in the first half and another three in the second. Last year Juan Diego was the No. 1 seed in the 4A playoffs dropping down a division to 3A this season. They will face the No. 1 seeded Layton Christian Academy on Saturday .

The loss brings an end to an otherwise successful season for the Dinos, finishing 9-6 and 7-1 with a region title. Carbon will be moving on from four seniors and will have plenty of underclassmen willing to step up looking to go back-to-back as Region 12 Champs.
