Haley Garrish is the new record holder for the Lady Dinos track team in discus after last weekend’s BYU Invitational in Provo. The meet featured schools from across the Intermountain West from all classifications, in fact it was broken into two different classes 1A-3A and 4A- 6A. Among 40 schools the Carbon Lady Dinos finished in 18th place with the boys finishing in 19th.

Union High School took the top prize on the girl’s side with 59 points, Canyon View came out in second place with 46. Morgan, Mountain View High School out of Wyoming and Preston High School from Idaho made up the remainder of the top five.

For Carbon, it was Haley Garrish who came up with a new school record in the discus that stood for 22 years,  with a throw of 111-01.75, claiming a fourth place finish. In the long jump Haylee Prescott earned a fifth place finish.

In running events for the ladies the girls 4×100 team of Eminie Elliot, Prescott, Mia Crompton, Lyndee Mower, Lindsey Jespersen and Jordan Shorts grabbed third place with a time of 50.86.

The team from Evanston Wyoming finished in first place in the boy’s categories with 71 points, Richfield finished second with 55.5. Sugar Salem High School from Idaho Juab High School and Snake River High School from Idaho rounded out the top five.

For the Dinos, Bowden Robinson earned a second place in the javelin with Nathan Morley taking the fifth spot.

In the sprint medley Will Carmichael, Nathan Hobbs, Easton Humes, Braxton Ware, Kobe Cruz and Ashton Ferguson took fifth.

All eyes turn to Cedar City on Tuesday for the Region 12 Championships.
