Now that school is out, USU-Extension-Emery County is ready to offer their 4-H Summer Programs. Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with Assistant Professor, Rowe Zwahlen to discuss all the fun activities and events that are being planned for the summer.
“You know the beginnings of 4-H were with farming and ranching families but really our main focus is on learning by doing. So whether that’s farming, whether that’s science, you know arts and crafts, any kind of career, really lots of different things, we just want kids to try things out and see what they like,” stated Zwahlen. All classes will be held at the Emery County Administration Building at 75 East Main or at the park located behind the building.
Some of the events scheduled for this summer are Summer Cooking, Sewing Camp, Art Camp, Paleo Camp, STEM Camp, Quilt Camp, and the Junior Master Gardner Camp. “We’ve got a lot of things coming up, my personal favorite is Junior Master Gardner. I love gardening and playing with plants. I like introducing kids to growing vegetables, flowers, getting their hands in the dirt, and that one is always a lot of fun for me,” stated Zwahlen.
Everyone is invited to be a part of the 4-H program, all they have to do is get signed up and pay the $10.00 registration fee. “It’s very simple to sign up, its on our website, it’s https://4h.zsuite.org/ its easy to sign up,” said Zwahlen. If anyone has any questions about registration, they can contact the USU Extension Office in Emery County. Keep in mind that there may be some small fees associated with some of the camps but it’s affordable.
