Castle Country Radio is kicking off the summer by naming Price Boys & Girls Club as their June Charity of the Month. Director, Quakee Tabone was invited to Castle Country Radio to talk about the services that the Price Boys & Girls Club offers.
“Boys & Girls Club is a place that provides a safe space for all youth to attend. Our mission actually is one of the things I love to refer to, it’s our mission is to inspire, and empower youth to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens. That’s really the goal we focus on around when we are interacting with youth every day,” stated Tabone. The Boys & Girls Club is open to students ages kindergarten to twelfth grade both for the school year and summer program.
The Boys & Girls Club accepts charitable donations to help with the organization’s efforts whether that’s monetary and/or school supplies. “We’ve been so lucky; this community really is just amazing with the donations that we’ve received. We always get people asking, the biggest thing for us, like one of our basic expenses, is cleaning supplies, especially with COVID right now. Lysol wipes, Lysol spray, any kind of sanitizing stuff, it really just helps us to make sure we’re keeping the germs down, keeping the kids safe,” explained Tabone. Anyone who wishes to make a donation to the organization may do so by stopping by the Boys & Girls Club at 60 East 100 North in Price.
Another great way to assist the Boys & Girls Club is to sponsor a child with an enrollment scholarship. “You may know that the fee is $20.00 and that’s for the whole summer, and then another $20.00 fee for the school year enrollment. But one of the things that we look for and that we try to offer for youth in the area is a scholarship and those are paid for by donations from people in the community. It’s a huge help to make sure that the kids that need Boys & Girls Club, and that want to be there, but may not have the funds can get down there and come to the program,” stated Tabone.
