The softball season came to a close last month and that means that it’s time for post-season accolades. Gianna Bruno, Haven Byerly and Tenley Madsen earned first team honors for the Dinos while Makayla Scovill was given an Honorable Mention.

Bruno, a senior on this year’s squad as a catcher, carried a .548 batting average with 10 home runs and 38 RBI’s with a .638 on-base-percentage. She also carried a .988 fielding percentage behind home plate. This was Bruno’s second nod after receiving an Honorable Mention in 2021.

Byerly, who was deadly on the mound, who was named to the second team last year, followed that up with a first team mention this season. Byerly went 10-4 this year, registering 171 strikeouts and a 3.872 ERA. A junior, Byerly will be back next year.

Madsen, played both third base and pitched for the Lady Dinos this season and rounds out the first team nods for Carbon. On the mound, Madsen went 10-2, with 58 strikeouts and a 2.90 ERA. Offensively, she carried a .371 average and 38 RBI’s.

Scovill, a junior at second base received her second consecutive honorable mention, batted her way to a .461 average along with a .520 on-base-percentage.

The 3A-All State selections were voted on by the coaches throughout the classification. The Deseret News named Riverton’s Kaysen Korth Player of the Year.
