The Carbon County Family Support Center and Children’s Justice Center are eager to celebrate Utah Family Month with an event that will get local families outdoors to enjoy some time together. Marketing Specialist, Kate Johnson took time to come into the Castle Country Radio Station to share details about their upcoming event.
“It’ll be this Thursday the 16th, it will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Free kites, free frisbees, we’ll give those out while supplies last. We have a free hot dog dinner with chips and drinks. We’re going to do a cotton candy machine, we’ve got lots of other games set up, cornhole, bubbles, chalk. We’re just excited to celebrate Utah Families and give them that opportunity to strengthen their relationship and build better bonding experiences,” stated Johnson. This is the sixth annual Kite Day event that will take place at 5:00 pm at the Carbon County Fairgrounds Event Center at 393 South Fairgrounds Road. This is an effort to bring families together by doing a physical activity together and helping to strengthen families.
Although the summer is just getting started the organization is preparing for their Back-to-School Giveaway in August. “For our Back-to-School Giveaway we give out new backpacks with school supplies for the children and then we set out gently used clothing for families to come pick through and take clothing. We’re going to start taking more donations for that so clothing for newborn up to adult,” stated Johnson. If you would like to make a donation of clothing items, school supplies, baby formula, diapers, and wipes you can drop off those items at the center Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
