
The 2022 Huntington Heritage Days celebration will start on July 1 and run through till July 4. The annual festivity is full of family friendly activities and events that is sure to be appealing to everyone of all ages.
There will be a pickleball tournament set to kick things off on Friday, July 1 at 5:00 pm at the softball complex. “At 6:30 pm we’ll have an ice cream social, which is free, its sponsored by BKs Stop & Shop. Then at 6:30 pm also, we’ll have a cornhole tournament, $20.00 a team, it will be at the rodeo grounds. Then at 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm we’ll have entertainment by Power House, they’re a music group coming from up north, a band, which they play all range of music,” stated Event Representative, Tom Kay. The night will close out with a movie called Ron’s Gone Wrong at 9:45 pm. The ice cream social, live entertainment and movie will all be held at Canyon View Middle School football field.
Organizers had to cancel the fun shoot set to take place on Saturday morning due to the rains flooding out the course. There will be evening activities set to begin at 6:00 pm with live entertainment by a band called Creep. They will be followed by a show from the Hypno Hick at 8:30 pm. A horseshoe tournament will take place at the rodeo grounds at 7:00 pm and it’s sponsored by Mitchell’s Funeral Home. “Then at 9:15 pm we’ll have the kids bike parade of lights. So kids decorate your bikes, put lights on them and come out to the junior high. We’ve got a little track they run on course and that will be fun. Then at 9:45 pm we’ll have the fireworks,” explained Kay. Activities again will be held at Canyon View Middle School.
On Monday, July 4 starts off bright and early at 7:30 am with the annual breakfast set to be served at the City Park. “At 9:00 am we’ll have the American Flag Retirement Ceremony at the City Park also there on Main Street. Then at 10:00 am we got the big parade on Main Street. Brings kids out, line up, we expect there to be a lot of candy thrown for the kids. Then at 11:00 am to 4:00 pm we have the kids attractions up to the junior high, it’s all free. There will be a bunch of stuff for the kids – bounce houses. We’ve got so much lined up for them that is just too much to mention,” stated Kay. There will be live entertainment from Cody Robbins, Hypno Hick, and Creep. There will be lawn mower races at the rodeo grounds at 6:00 pm and the night will close with a beautiful firework display launched from the rodeo grounds.
