The Eastern Utah Cal Ripken 10-year-old all-stars will join nine other teams in the Pacific Southwest Regional Tournament beginning Monday, July 18 in Rohnert Park, Calif.
The team, which has won its last 40 games played, clinched a spot in the Southwest Regional Tournament after winning the state championship at the end of June.

Carbon is one of 10 teams to advance to the regional tournament. Those 10 teams will be divided into two separate divisions, meaning each team will play four games against their division. The top two seeds from each pool will then meet in a single elimination tournament to decide the regional championship.

This year’s roster consists of Jacen Cowley, Rigdon Rhoten, Jack Madrid, Nate Tatton, Jacen Urbanik, Callan Donaldson, Jaxton Smith, Mason Powell, Alex Martinez, Jace Bosone and Austin Leonard. The team is coached by Darek Martinez, Rob Smith and Justin Powell.

To help alleviate the cost the 10-U team will host multiple fundraisers over the coming days. The first will be at Heritage Days on Friday, Saturday, and Monday. They will be selling tickets, water, and concessions.

The next fundraiser will be a car wash taking place Monday, July 4 at JN Auto in Huntington beginning at 11:00 a.m.

The entire team was a guest Thursday on KOAL’s Drive Time Sports. The complete segment is available below:
