Wellington City is excited to be hosting their Pioneer Days celebration on Saturday, July 23 at the city park. Wellington City Council Member, Caleb Nelson and City Recorder, Gracie Procarione stopped by Castle Country Radio to discuss all the event details with listeners.

“We’re going to start Saturday morning with a free breakfast for the first 200 individuals and then we’ll have the parade at 10:00 am. Afterwards we will have events in the park, we’ll have a horseshoe tournament, cornhole tournament. There will be bouncy houses for the kids, lot of food trucks, vendors, just a lot of great things going on and a lot of great things for the family to get out an be together in,” said Nelson. All of the events and activities will be taking place at the city park on Main Street.

There will be a rodeo held on Saturday evening and its being put on by Afton McCourt. “We are kind of encouraging people to go to that and support her, support the rodeo and have a good time out there after the events in the park,” said Nelson. Individuals that would like to compete in the rodeo can call the City Office to get contact information.

The city is currently looking for vendors that would like to set up for the Pioneer Days celebration. “We still have about four or five vendor booths left if you’re interested in being a vendor, call city hall at 637-5213 and ask for me and I can help you out with that. We also have the parade Saturday morning, line-up starts at 9:00 am, parade starts at 10:00 am. If you’re interested in having a float, please call me again at City Hall and we’ll be able to fill out some information and get you on the line-up. We’re super excited and hope it’s a good parade turnout this year,” said Procarione. Right now, is the time for families, business, civic groups or teams to put together a float for the parade. This is free advertising for your business/organization and it’s a wonderful way to get involved and really give back to the community.
