–Robert “Terry” Johnson, age 76, passed away July 2, 2022 in Price, Utah.
He was born May 16, 1946 in Portland, Oregon to Willard “Willy” C. and Florence Louise DeRose Johnson. Terry grew up with his siblings, Sherry and Bill, in Helper, Utah, right next door to his beloved grandparents and aunt, Frank and Caroline DeRose and Carm DeRose.
Terry graduated from Notre Dame School in Price and also attended The College of Eastern Utah. He served in the US Army, stationed in Germany, during the Vietnam War.
He was a member of the St. Anthony Parish in Helper, Utah.
In 1978, Terry married Cheryl Lynne Kraync in Snyderville, Utah. Together they had one daughter, Melissa (Jeff) Pero. He was a supportive father figure to Quinn (Carla) Nelson and Heather (Bob) Olson.
Terry loved his family and was always concerned about them. He had a special bond with his aunt Mille. “Papa” Terry adored his grandchildren. He also loved hunting both pheasants and turkeys, fishing, tying his own flies, taxidermy and automobile work, a skill he learned from his father.
He is survived by his beloved wife Cheryl Johnson of Price; children, Melissa (Jeff) Pero, Helper, Utah, Quinn (Carla) Nelson, Saratoga Springs, Utah, Heather (Bob) Olson, Salmon, Idaho; siblings, Sherry (Frank) Jerant, Sparks, Nevada, Bill (Candace) Johnson, Salt Lake City, Utah; grandchildren, Aubrey (Ian) Parkinson, Chubbuck, Idaho, Derek (Carly) Olson, Orem, Utah, Deshka Olson, St. George, Utah, Marissa (Jake) Peterson, Saratoga Springs, Utah, Jordan (Whitney) Nelson, Eagle Mountain, Utah, Madi Nelson, Eagle Mountain, Utah, Hunter, Corbin and Lauren Pero, all of Helper, Utah; six great-grandchildren and two more on the way; nephews and nieces, Tony (Nancy) Jerant, Davis, California, Mike (Tracy) Jerant, Sparks, Nevada, Frankie Johnson, Jena (Brad) Ruesch, Salt Lake City, Utah.
Preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles.
Funeral Mass, Wednesday, July 6, 2022, 11:00 a.m., St. Anthony Catholic Church (5 South Main St, Helper, UT 84526). A Vigil will begin at 10:30 a.m. The family will begin receiving friends at the church at 10:00 a.m. Committal, Mt. View Cemetery, Helper, Utah.
