The Carbon Dinos ended their 2021 season with a loss to Union on the road in the opening round of the 3A State Championships. Moving into the 2022 campaign there is new life and a readiness to take on all comers starting with the Hillcrest Huskies on August 12 as they kickoff the non-region portion of the schedule.
The Dinos will have five non-region games this season starting with Hillcrest. The following week they will have their first home game of the season on August 19, when they welcome the Grand Red Devils to town. Carbon wraps up the non-region schedule on September 9th, when they travel to Castle Dale to face the Emery Spartans.
The Dinos play in the 3A South region and will start their conference schedule on September 16 when they travel to face the Manti Templars, and wrap up the regular season in Cedar City to face Canyon View on October 14.
Heading into his third season at the helm, Coach Phil Howa joined KOAL’s Drive Time Sports to talk about the upcoming season and what it takes to get the students ready for the next three plus months of football.
“You know, you’re just trying to give them an edge, trying to give kids a chance to get stronger, condition their bodies to withstand what we’re going to put them through and learn a little, working on fundamentals, on stance and footwork and stuff like that, that’s priceless, and typically during the year you don’t have time to do that. It’s been good, I’ve enjoyed it and I think the kids that have been coming have got a lot out of it.”
Remember, all Carbon Dino football games will be broadcast on KRPX 95.3 The Peak, Where The Dinos Play.
