It was time once again for Castle Country Radio to get a DWR update so they were able to sit down with DWR Conservation Outreach Manager, Aaron Bott to talk about fishing and huntingtin permits.
Recently the DWR increased fishing limits on Fairview Lake which is very close to our region. “We have had some questions coming into us asking if that included the Energy Loop – Mammoth, Cleveland, and Electric, it does not affect those waterbodies. So the fishing limit increase is only the one up in the HOA Development area,” stated Bott.
As for the lakes in our region, reports are showing that there is great angling taking place. “Scofield right now is doing great as far as fishing goes. That is the gem of the region for all fishing activities. I just got a report his morning from happy anglers out there that were really enjoying themselves over the weekend,” said Bott. There’s about 60 percent capacity and dropping at the reservoirs such as Mammoth and Electric, which means there is no way to launch any boats at this time.
There will be an opportunity in August in Moab to get up close and personal with some reptiles. “First couple of weeks of August we’re going to be hosting a Reptile and Amphibian Night event down in Moab. This will be family friendly; it will begin in the evening. We’ll have lots of different native reptiles and amphibians to talk about and show and tell, and it should be a great time,” explained Bott. The dates for the event will be shared at a later time on the DWR website.
If you are looking for a hunting permit there is still some that are available. “The next couple of weeks in July we got tags that were turned in due to conflicting schedules and what not. We’ve got some of these tags here at the Price office that you can start to purchase. So if you were unlucky the first go-around, then now is your chance to try and draw a tag and get out this fall,” explained Bott. For more information about hunting permits contact the DWR office at
