It’s time once again to speak with Castle Dale Mayor Danny Van Wagoner to discuss the upcoming Castle Dale Days celebration. There will be several fun, family-friendly activities taking place from July 28 – July 30.

Thursday is all about the kids and kicks off at the park on Main Street. “Thursday, we have kids’ games starting at 3:30 pm in the park, the rodeo ground park. Then barbeque for $2.00 at 4:30 pm. Then we’re going to go right from there to a kid’s rodeo at 6:00 pm and that’s the pig chase, the chicken chase, the bring your own stick horse chase and we have prizes, cash prizes, and lots of pigs and chickens to give away. So that will be a really good time,” stated Mayor Van Wagoner. Following the kid’s rodeo there will be a movie in the park, so be sure to bring chairs and blankets. There will be free snow cones and popcorn shared during the movie too.

“Friday, we have the kick off to the Cowboy Memorial Rodeo and from that we’ll just go into Saturday, and it’s more of the rodeo. Also, before the rodeo starts, we’re going to have a horseshoes tournament, a pickleball tournament, the sign-up is at 9:00 am. The cornhole tournament starts at 10:00 am. A sand volleyball tournament, spike ball tournament. Like I said, the final rounding up of the Cowboy Memorial Rodeo, and then we got a big firework show after that,” explained Mayor Van Wagoner. There is sure to be a fun activity for everyone to enjoy on Saturday.

Although the celebration ends on Saturday night the city is excited to announce a fundraising event taking place on Sunday at the rodeo grounds. “We’re going to have a high stakes barrel race and it’s for a benefit for Rachel Krompel and we would really like to see everyone come out and watch this. Also, those that do ride, get involved. It’s for a good cause, she got hurt and like the community we like to help everybody get back on their feet,” stated Mayor Van Wagoner. This barrel racing event will take place at the rodeo grounds in Castle Dale.
