Friends of Rachael Krompel have organized a fundraising event to assist the local barrel racer who was involved in a serious barrel racing accident on July 17. This fundraising event will take place at the rodeo arena in Castle Dale on Sunday, July 31 at 9:00 am. Event Organizer, Shawnalee Hinkins stopped by Castle Country Radio to discuss all the details.

“If you know Rachael, you love Rachael, she’s an amazing person, she’ll do anything for you, she’s a great friend. Unfortunately, she was involved in a barrel racing accident on the 17th of July, where she sustained several injuries, a couple of them were life threatening. She was taken by ambulance to Richfield Hospital, from there she was life flighted to Provo ICM where she is currently fighting her injuries. We’re just trying to put together a fundraiser to help her out,” said Hinkins. All proceeds gathered will go to assist Rachael with medical expenses so that she can concentrate on getting well.

The event will be held in Castle Dale at the local rodeo arena. “So the barrel race itself will start at 12:00 pm. We’re going to start the silent auction, giveaway prizes, starting at about 9:30 am. We will take donations up till 9:00 am, but yea, the event should go until about 4:30 pm that evening. Spectators are welcomed to come watch for free. The barrel racers are going to donate all the proceeds from the open race to Rachael,” stated Hinkins. If you would like to donate an item to the silent auction or make a monetary donation you can drop it off at JN Auto in Price or Huntington.

There have been so many individuals and businesses that have already donated to the silent auction. “We’ve got some amazing items. We’ve had a horse donated, puppies. We’ve got Mini Aussies, Mini Aussie Doodles, a Poodle. Then we got a gift certificate for a set of tires that JN Auto donated. We have a comprehensive treatment for dental work, braces that was donated from Brian Cowley. Oh my gosh we got horse tack, jewelry, quilts and blankets,” explained Hinkins. There will be a booth set up displaying the various donated items during the Cowboys Memorial Rodeo on Friday, July 29 and Saturday, July 30 in Castle Dale.
