Juanito “Johnny” Madrid, age 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on July 31, 2022 at Castleview Hospital in Price.
Johnny was born on February 23, 1940 in Chama, New Mexico to Jose Baltazar Madrid and Refujio Gonzales.
Johnny married the love of his life; Naomi Albertine Maestas on April 15, 1961 in Chama, New Mexico. Later in life, Johnny received his Coal Mine Electrical Certification which he was able to use while he worked as an electrician/mechanic in the coal mines. Johnny was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Price. As a member of this church, he grew to have a fond love for the Bible. You could find Johnny reading his Bible along with many others in the comforts of his home. He had a deep love and enjoyment in devoting himself to prayer. Many memories have been made as a family fishing and camping. These memories will be forever in our hearts.
Johnny is survived by his beloved wife, Naomi Albertine Madrid, Price, UT.; children, Patrick Michael (Lucy) Madrid, Vernal, UT., Barbara Bonnie (Lindy) Carlton, Sandy, UT., Timothy Albert (Sheila) Madrid, Salt Lake City, UT., and Paula Jo (Sterling) Rowley, Price, UT.; grandchildren, Chase, Amber, LB, Haylee, Amanda, Naomi (Nomi), Martina, and Izaiah; great-grandchildren, Jaylee, Aislin, Xavier, Miranda, Gabriel, and Addison; siblings, Baltazar Madrid, West Valley City, UT., Bernie Madrid, Chama, New Mexico, Salomon Madrid, Chama, New Mexico, David Madrid, West Valley City, UT., Joe (Rosemary) Madrid, Chama, New Mexico, Julia (Tommy) Garcia, Chama, New Mexico, Louis (Linda) Madrid, Taos, New Mexico, and Margaret (Tommy) Valdez, Cortez, Colorado.
Preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Refujio Madrid; siblings, Margaret Madrid, Sisto Madrid, Mary Madrid, Erma Greyeyes, Jesse Madrid, and Jerry Madrid; and nephews, Emilio Madrid and Frankie Duran.
The family would like to thank Dr. Shane Gagon and all of the staff at Castleview Hospital for the outstanding care and attention they provided Johnny and his entire family.
Funeral service, Friday, August 5, 2022, 10:00 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street, Price, Utah). The family will receive friends at the funeral home starting at 9:00 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Cliffview Cemetery, Price, Utah.
