The Carbon Lady Dino soccer club got things going Thursday in Price when they welcomed in the Manti Templars. Manti found the back of the net twice in the first half and the Dinos couldn’t keep the pace as the Templars handed Carbon a loss 3-1 in the season opener in front of the hometown crowd.

Carbon is looking to get back to their form from last year that saw them finish the season 12-5 with a 6-2 Region 12 record. The Lady Dinos entered post-season play last year in the No. 6 spot in 3A, and would eventually exit the playoffs with a loss to the 3A State Champion Ogden Tigers.

Manti came out scoring 2 goals in the first half and Carbon put one between the pipes putting the first half score at 2-1 Manti.

The Templars added one more in the second half and left Price with the 3-1 win.

The non-region schedule for the Dinos will continue on Friday against the Delta Rabbits in Price, then there will be games with Parowan, Union, Uintah, Grantsville and North Sanpete before the region portion of the schedule begins on August 30 against Canyon View in Cedar City.

Of course the games everyone has circled are against the Lady Spartans and those will take place in Price on Sept. 8 and Sept. 27 in Castle Dale.

The season will come to a close at home against Grand on Sept. 29

After Friday’s game with Delta, the Lady Dinos will play their next home game on Aug. 11 when Union comes to town.
