Sherry Diane Samples Malone quietly passed away at her apartment in Price on August 24, 2022.

Sherry is the daughter of the late Denny Lynn Samples and Sandra Nell Anderson Nichols. Sherry was born on November 1, 1965 in Price, Utah.

Sherry was a doting single mother to Sawsha Nicole Guerrero and Hunter Dylan Whaley. She was also “Nanny” to two beautiful grandkids, Cruise David and Allure Nicole Guerrero.  Sherry was sure the moon rose and set behind those grandbabies and no one could tell her different.  Those two grandkids had “Nanny” wrapped around her finger.

Sherry worked hard and had more than one job at times to assure her kids would not go without or missed out on childhood memories or experiences.  Sherry did a lot to assure her kids were taken care of but she also had a great support team with her “Pa,” late William (Bill) Nichols, her Mom, Sandra Nell Nichols, and her sisters, Shelly Samples-McKinnon and Sheila Samples Manzanares.

Sherry grew up in Carbonville right next door to her maternal grandparents, Neldon and Velma McKee Anderson on their 20-acre farm.  She had many fond memories, from riding the family horse (Princess) which she had to fight her older sister for. The rule was whoever got up earlier and caught the horse had her to ride for the day.  Sherry’s only downfall was she was not an early riser so she did not get the horse very often; to being woke up at 6:30 a.m. every morning along with her sisters by Grandpa Anderson who was packing coke bottles with nipples to feed the bummer goats. Best memories ever!

Sherry graduated from Carbon High School and then obtained a certificate from The College of Eastern Utah in cosmetology and she worked in that field for some time.

Sherry had a special place in her heart for her “mechanical hero,” Harry L. Anderson (uncle) and a very dear friend and nurse, Debbie from Rocky Mountain Care & Hospice. She also had a very treasured and cherished spot in her heart for her son-in-law, Chad Guerrero. Chad was the peacemaker, her confidant, and the person she would call first. They may not have always seen eye-to-eye in the beginning, but over 17 years, Sawsha and Chad being together developed and grew such an incredible and trusting friendship.

As the kids got older she made spending time with family a priority. As her health began to deteriorate, time became more precious and she used it wisely; spending it with those she loved.

Sherry is survived by her daughter, Sawsha Nicole Guerrero (Chad); son, Hunter Dylan Whaley (Caitlin); mother, Sandra Nell Anderson Nichols late (Bill); sisters, Shelly Denice Samples McKinnon (Larry) and Sheila Dawn Samples Manzanares (Eric); grandchildren, Cruise David and Allure Nicole Gurrero; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life for Sherry will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price and Huntington where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories of Sherry online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net
