Five runs in the second and five more in the third were enough to put the Panguitch Bobcats ahead of the Green River Pirates Wednesday afternoon on the Pirates home field. Green River manged to get one run in the first but Panguitch was too much taking the 14-1 win.

Panguitch entered the game sitting in the No.1 spot in 1A with a 13-2 record.  The Pirates sat at No. 13 and a record of 0-7.

The Bobcats came out in the first inning putting the first run on the board in the top of the first, and Green River followed suit when Bridjer Meadows scored on a passed ball with Ryker Meadows at the plate.

Panguitch came up in the second putting up five runs and with no answer from the Pirates added five more in the third making the score 11-1. The Bobcats tacked on one more in the fourth and were held scoreless in the top of the fifth.

Green River came up in the bottom of the inning needing two more runs to extend the contest but were unable to get anything going offensively, ending the game in five innings.

Raul Mendoza went 1-2 for the Pirates and Bridjer Meadows scored the only run.

On the mound it was Favian Mendez getting the start going three innings giving up 11 runs (five earned) on 12 hits and struck out one. Luis Hernandez entered the game going two , and allowed one hit and got one strike out.

It doesn’t get any easier for Green River as they welcome Piute, No.2 in the RPI to town today. Piute has a 9-1 record.

Game time is set for 3 p.m..
