The Carbon Dinos returned to their home field Friday night with a chance to bounce back against the North Sevier Wolves. Unfortunately, the Wolves used a strong second half to pull away from the Dinos in the second half as Carbon fell by a score of 45-24. Carbon falls to 2-2 on the season.

A week after a devastating loss to the Ogden Tigers, the Dinos needed a good game to get back on track and move to 3-1 on the season. Things started the way Carbon wanted them to.

After allowing a 36-yard touchdown pass to the Wolves, Carbon immediately answered on a 18-yard touchdown run by senior quarterback Wyatt Falk, his second of the year. To set up the Falk touchdown, the Dino defense forced a fumble on the North Sevier 18 yard line.

However, the very next drive, North Sevier answered with a touchdown drive of their own, capped off by a 5 yard touchdown run.

To close out the half, North Sevier had the ball with just under a minute left in the second quarter when Mason Vasquez picked off the Wolves’ quarterback to set up a 6-yard touchdown pass from Falk to receiver Ashton Ferguson.

After working hard for a 14-13 halftime lead, the Dinos lead seemed to fizzle before their eyes as North Sevier would outscore Carbon 32-10 in the second half.

North Sevier scored 26 unanswered points before Carbon broke the streak with a 33-yard field goal off the foot of Dylan Curtis to make the score 39-17. The Wolves added another touchdown, and with just 30 seconds left in the game, Wyatt Falk threw his second passing touchdown of the game to receiver Jerden Alderson.

Wyatt Falk led the Dinos offensively with three touchdowns, two passing and one rushing, while Mason Vasquez led a Carbon defense that produced five turnovers.

Next week, the Dinos look to get back to their winning ways against their long-standing rivals, the Emery Spartans. The Spartans enter the week with a 1-2 record after a win on Friday night over the Union Cougars.

Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm from Emery High School. The pre-game show will begin at 6:30 live on KRPX 95.3 The Peak and on the Castle Country Radio app.
