The Carbon County Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for a busy month in September as they are preparing for their September luncheon and the upcoming golf tournament set for October. Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with Executive Director, Barbie Haeck to talk about the upcoming events.

This month’s chamber luncheon is set to take place on September 15 at 12:00 pm and everyone is invited to attend. “It’s going to be at Ascension St. Matthews church and the speaker is Amanda McIntosh, Suicide Prevention Specialist from the Southeast Utah Health District and from the HOPE Squad. She’s going to be doing the QPR Training – Question, Persuade, Refer, which are three steps anyone can learn to help prevent suicide. I’ve done this training before and it is invaluable, please, please, please come and join us and do this really important training with Amanda,” said Haeck. There is a small fee to attend the event, for members it’s $18.00 per person and non-members its $25.00 per person.

Each luncheon a Business Spotlight and a Community Spotlight is chosen to highlight for the month. “This month it’s a little special, we have Pierce Oil Golden West Industries is celebrating their 50th Anniversary, so they are our only Business Spotlight in September and then also the HOPE Squad is our Community Spotlight,” stated Haeck. To RSVP for the luncheon, call the Carbon County Chamber of Commerce Office at (435) 637-2788 or email them at cccc@carboncountychamber.net

The third annual Chamber Golf Tournament is coming up on October 7 and October 8 and it is one of the organizations main fundraisers. “In October on the 7th and the 8th is our annual Golf Tournament. So the way we do it is we have scheduled tee times on Friday for those who would like to golf on Friday. We have scheduled tee times from noon to about 2:00 pm, and then we also have the shotgun start on Saturday morning. So it’s two days you can golf but its actually just a one day tournament. What will do is the scores from Friday will be collected with the scores from Saturday to determine the winner,” explained Haeck. The cost to participate is $300.00 per team for Chamber members and $375.00 per team for non-members. Players are responsible to pay green fees and cart rental.

“But we’re still looking for sponsors. We have a par sponsorship for $150.00, a birdie sponsorship for $450.00 or an eagle sponsorship for $700.00. The birdie sponsorship includes one team and the eagle sponsorship includes two teams and there’s a few other benefits to being a sponsor. But I would love to talk to anyone who’s interested in either sponsorship or entering a team,” stated Haeck. You can contact her at (435) 637-2788 or by email at cccc@carboncountychamber.net
