The Lady Spartans jumped in to the region portion of their schedule on Thursday when they welcomed the Grand County Red Devils to Castle Dale. Emery got goals from four different players and a shutout in goal in the win.

Grand entered region play with the No. 17 ranking in 3A and a record of 1-2. The Lady Spartans entered at 2-6, sitting at the No. 14 spot, Emery has only region opponents left this season, and Region 12 is well represented with three teams (Canyon View No. 3, Carbon No. 6 and Richfield No. 8) in the top 10.

Emery found the back of the net one time in the first half taking a 1-0 lead into halftime. In the second half, the Lady Spartans kept pushing forward, adding three more goals and defensively keeping Grand out of goal by pitching a shutout.

Madi Bunnell, BreElle Parkins, Purity Mason and Beka Barnett all scored goals for Emery. Parkins, Barnett, Alexia Mortensen and Molly Christiansen all added assists in the win.

In between the pipes, Calypso Mason and Allyssa Rivest combined for 80 minutes of shutout soccer.

Next up, Emery will welcome Richfield to Castle Dale on Tuesday. game time is set for 4 p.m..
