Betty Lorraine Mills, loving wife, mom, grandma, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2022 in Provo, Utah surrounded by her family at the age of 74.
Lorraine was born in Price, Utah on January 3, 1948 to John E. and Elizabeth Koss Sherman. She had three older brothers, though one had passed away before she was born. She was constantly by her mother’s side, picking raspberries, learning to bake bread, doing chores, and enjoying a happy farm life childhood.
Growing up in Huntington she was blessed with many close friends and lifelong companions. Lorraine was part of a fun-loving bunch of girls that enjoyed a good laugh and an occasional prank call to the neighboring farm boy, Bob Mills. She married that farm boy/sweetheart on December 5, 1964, before she was even out of high school. They were an inseparable team for over 57 years.
Bob and Lorraine built a life of love, hard work, and good times. They began their married life working various jobs to support each other. For a time, they lived on the Wasatch Front where they made wonderful friends who have become family. They moved back to Huntington in 1976. Lorraine and Bob were sealed in the Manti Temple on their wedding anniversary in 1980 and were blessed with two boys, Robert and Mike, shortly thereafter.
Hard work was important to Lorraine. She helped her in-laws establish and operate The Old Homestead Restaurant and supported Bob in his career and business ventures. Having a good time was equally important to Lorraine. She spent hours driving the boat for hopeful fishermen and would-be water skiers. She was quick to make sure everyone was included, especially her beloved nephews and nieces. A lifetime of happy memories have been made camping, boating, and vacationing together.
Lorraine was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings including Primary, Young Women’s, and Relief Society. Her hallmark quality was unpretentious service to those around her. Above all, Lorraine adored being a wife, mother, and grandmother and her family adored her. Her sly smile, quick wit, and unbridled love will bless her family for generations.
Lorraine is survived by her devoted husband, Bob; sons, Robert (Heather), Michael (Whitney); seven grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers; and in-laws, Homer and Thelma Mills.
