Carbon High School baseball manager Jeff Cisneros announced his retirement after eight seasons of leading the Dinos.

Cisneros, who has coached baseball for 32 years locally, took over the program at Carbon High School in 2015. He had previously served two stints as an assistant under former coaches Tony Pinedo and Troy Moynier.

“I want to tell everyone how thankful I am for the opportunity I’ve had to coach baseball in this community,” said Cisneros following the announcement. “For those of you who trusted and supported me throughout my career, I want to say thank you. I hope you know you are the reason I dedicated over half my life to the game I love.”

During his eight seasons as manager, Cisneros compiled a 114-83 overall record, 53-21 mark in region play, three region titles and advanced to the State Championship round twice. Carbon reached the semifinals this past season, falling to runner-up American Leadership.

“I would like to thank Jeff for the many years of service he gave in coaching various sports at Carbon High School,” said Principal Jarad Hardy. “He put in countless hours maintaining the fields and making sure our student-athletes were well coached and prepared.”

Taking over at Carbon High School was a natural fit for Cisneros. Overseeing the Helper American Legion baseball team, consisting mostly of Carbon High School athletes, Cisneros built the program into one of the most consistent summer league teams in the state. To date the team has won multiple state championships and several divisional crowns.

Aside from coaching baseball, Cisneros has been a key voice for sports in Carbon and Emery counties over the past three decades. His coaching resume’ includes football, basketball and baseball for schools in both counties.

“I always tried to be fair and honest with everyone I came in contact with during my time as a coach,” said Cisneros. “I want to wish everyone the best of luck moving forward.”

Carbon County School District has officially started the search for its next baseball coach. The position officially opened this week and candidates will have until Tuesday, Sept. 20 to officially apply.
