
It doesn’t matter what the sport whenever Carbon and Emery get together, it’s a big deal. Thursday in Price the two schools met on the soccer field for the first of two regular season meetings, and Carbon came away with a big 6-0 win.
The Dinos are sitting at No. 6 in the RPI this week sporting a 7-3-1 overall record and a 2-1 region mark, after back-to-back region wins over Richfield and Emery. The lone loss in league play came at the hands of Canyon View.
The Lady Spartans are 3-8 with a 1-2 region mark and hold the No. 14 spot. Emery now has lost it’s last two games with Richfield and Carbon. The win came against Grand in the region opener.
In Thursday afternoon’s contest, it was a dominant performance by the Dinos scoring four goals in the first half and then finding the back of the net twice more in the second. Defensively Emma Flemett earned another shutout and also recorded five saves.
Beverly Lancaster led the way for the Dinos with three goals, Bailey Johnson added two goals and an assist. Amiah Timothy added the other goal for Carbon. Kinley Cowdell, Kenzie Morgan and Shalyce Rahaula all logged assist in the win as well.
The Spartans will head back to the field on Tuesday when they welcome Canyon View to Castle Dale. Game time is set for 4 p.m..
The Dinos will travel to Grand on Tuesday, they won’t be back home again until the final game of the season Sept. 29 when they will host Grand.
