The Pinnacle baseball team’s season started way back on August 3 with a loss to Valley. Pushing their way the season and putting together a 5-8 record to go along with the No. 9 spot in the RPI. In their last game they claimed a 5-3 win over rival Green River on the road.

After the win over Meriit Prep, the Panthers struggled over their next few games taking losses to Bryce Valley and Panguitch at home and then traveling to Valley, taking the 9-0 loss in Orderville.

The first meeting between Pinnacle and Green River in Price back on Aug.17 was a heavy weight prize fight of a game, with each team slugging it out until the Panthers came away with the 18-13 win.

This time around scoring was kept to a minimum with both team’s pitching squads making the difference as Brody Howell got the win on the bump for Pinnacle going a complete seven innings giving up one earned on three hits and striking out 12. For the Pirates on the other hand, the duo of Favian Mendez and Raul Mendoza combined for two earned on 10 hits and struck out 10.

Carlos Alcon was magic from the plate for the Panthers, going 3-3 with two runs scored. Jayson Miller was 1-2 with a pair of runs as well. Jaxon Cranford and Todd McFarland each had an RBI in the win for Pinnacle.

Three of the final regular season games for the Panthers will be against teams that are ranked in the top 5 in 1A. Wayne (No. 5), Piute (No. 2) and Bryce Valley (No. 3), they will also face Diamond Ranch Academy who is ranked at No. 12.

Up first they will travel to Bicknell on Wednesday to face Wayne. When they met up back on August 19 Wayne got the better of the Panthers 13-0 in Price.

The final home game for Pinnacle comes on Sept.21 when they welcome Piute for Senior Day.
