The Lady Dinos were looking to avenge their only Region 12 loss on Thursday when they traveled to Cedar City to face Canyon View. The Falcons are the No. 2 team in the RPI rankings for 3A. Carbon coming in with the No.6 ranking, couldn’t keep pace with the Falcons, who took control, winning the game 5-1.

Canyon View is the only team in the region that Carbon can’t crack. In the first meeting on their home field in Price, the Dinos struggled both offensively and defensively taking a 4-0 loss.

In the game on Thursday in Cedar City, Canyon View jumped on the Dinos taking a 4-1 lead into half time, Kinley Cowdell scored the lone goal for Carbon. The Falcons came out in half number two putting up another goal and shutting out the Dinos, earning the 5-1 win.

After the match, in the updated RPI standings, the Lady Dinos have slipped to No.7. If the playoffs were to start today, Carbon would face Juan Diego according to the RPI rankings. Soon the rankings will be removed, but will continue to be updated until Oct. 5 when the final bracket will be revealed for the 3A State Championships.

The Dinos have just three games remaining on their schedule, with two on the road and only one left at home.

Carbon has just one contest next week when they travel to take on No. 9 Richfield on Tuesday. In the first meeting between the two squads, the Dinos came out on top 3-1.

The following week on Tuesday, September  27, they will travel to Castle Dale to face the Emery Spartans, game one of this series went to the Lady Dinos 6-0.

Carbon wraps up the regular season on Sept. 29, when Grand  comes rolling to town for Senior Day. Game time is set for 4 p.m..
