The USU Extension Office in both Carbon and Emery Counties is hosting informational gardening classes in September and October.  They would like to invite members of the community to attend these events to receive information on how to prep gardens for the Fall Season.

The first event is entitled, Prepping your Garden for Fall, will be held on Wednesday, September 21 at 6:00 pm at the USU Eastern campus inside the Reeves Building. “So it’s really just ways, I think sometimes people get tired by the end of the season and sort of just give up. But if you can keep holding out just a little bit longer, there’s lots of things you can be doing now, that can get you into better shape for next Spring. So we’re going to talk a little bit about what to prune, what not to prune, how to clean things up, maybe a little bit about what to fertilize. Now’s a good time to maybe get on top of some weeds and things, problems that you may have had before they turn into a bigger problem,” stated Extension Assistant Professor, Rowe Zwahlen. There is a small fee for the course which is $5.00 and you can sign up by visiting https://www.eventbrite.com/

The October course entitled Bulb Planting, will be held on Wednesday, October 12 at 6:00 pm at the USU Eastern campus inside the Reeves Building. “I kind of think about bulbs being gardening for ADHD. You can go out plant all your fall bulbs, takes a couple of hours, and then you can forget about it and then Spring you have a nice surprise, everything breaks. Really that time of year is a good time to put those in. I mean there’s a slue of different, very common, fall planted bulbs that we’ll talk about, maybe some that are a little less common. But they are beautiful and they are just a nice thing to be able to do as you’re wrapping up and kind of looking forward to Spring,” said Extension Assistant Professor, Steve Price. Again, there will be a small fee of $5.00 required and you can sign up on https://www.eventbrite.com/

Another course will be offered in November, and further details will be shared as it becomes available. They will take a break for the month of December and resume in January 2023. Space is limited so interested individuals will want to sign up either at https://www.eventbrite.com/ or call the USU Extension Office in Carbon at (435) 636-3233 or USU Extension Office in Emery at (435) 381-2381.
