The Green River Lady Pirate volleyball squad continues to make their way through the season, compiling a 2-6 record overall and a 2-1 region mark. Last week they welcomed the Wayne Badgers going four sets, but in the end the Badgers walked away with the 3-1 victory.
With six region matches left, the Pirates will only be going up against league competition, with the exception of Grand on Sept. 23, but even region match-ups with No. 5 Monument Valley and No. 9 Monticello will not be an easy task.
Wayne (8-3, No. 4) is one of the top teams in 1A, and they came out playing like it early taking the first two sets 25-14 and 25-17. In the third set, Green River came alive winning 25-21, and even though the final set went to Wayne it was a close one 25-20.
The Lady Pirates will be back on their home floor on Tuesday to take on Whitehorse. In the first meeting this season between these two it was a perfect sweep in straight sets for Green River 3-0.
The remaining schedule shakes out like this, Grand on Friday at home. They will face Monticello and Monument Valley at home next week on Tuesday Sept.27 and Saturday Oct. 1, the meeting with Monument Valley will be Senior Day.
Then they end the season on the road with another meeting with Monument Valley and end the regular season on Oct. 13 when they travel to Price to take on Pinnacle.
The contest with Whitehorse on Tuesday is set for a 7:15 start.
