The C.A.R.E. Coalition is excited to host a Family Field Day on Monday, September 26 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Washington Park. This community family event is open to all families in the Carbon County area. Event Coordinator, Alysa Potter stopped by Castle Country Radio to invite all the listeners to the event.

The C.A.R.E. Coalition is a local organization that empowers youth by preventing risk. Potter explains further, “So the C.A.R.E. Coalition is the Carbon Addition Reduction Elimination Coalition. We are a community-based coalition for Carbon County specific and we provide some of the prevention efforts for Carbon County.” C.A.R.E aims to support new and existing evidence-based prevention efforts in Carbon County to reduce these problem behaviors; Substance Abuse, Delinquency, Teen Pregnancy, School Dropout, Violence, Depression and Anxiety.

Healthy behavior in youth is a priority goal for the C.A.R.E Coalition. “Our goal is to provide services for the youth in the community. We sponsor a variety of different programs. One of them is a school-based program for our middle schoolers, it’s called the Why Try Program, which is evidenced based and provided at both of the middle schools in Carbon County. We also are supporters of the Raptors Program, for the afterschool program in Carbon County,” stated Potter.

The C.A.R.E. Coalition would like families to come celebrate National Eat Dinner as a Family Day with games, booths and free pizza in the park. “Price City was nice enough to let us use Washington Park so that we have enough space for everything. We are trying to promote family bonding and spending time together, along with, again, as you mentioned the National Eat Together as a Family Day. So we’re going to have pizza for everybody, and we’re going to have events – little games and activities that promote spending time and doing things together,” said Potter. One of the fun activities scheduled is an Escape Room Trailer that will allow families to enter and work together as a team to escape.

This is a free event and all families in the community are invited to attend. To learn more about the C.A.R.E. Coalition visit their website at https://www.careforcarbon.org/
