Just like every other team in 1A, Green River is trying to figure out where they will land when playoff time rolls around. The Lady Pirates are 3-3 in their last six games and may be starting to put things together. A win against Whitehorse in straight sets, and then pushing 3A Grand to five sets and last night at home forcing the No. 5 team in 1A, Monticello to four sets.

The Pirates are 3-8 overall and 3-2 in Region 23 play, with five matches left in the regular season.

In the contest with Whitehorse ( No.20, 1-6) the Lady Pirates made quick work of the Raiders 25-19, 25-18 and 25-11.

Up next for Green River was their meeting with the Grand County Red Devils. This is a meeting that happens every year between the two schools even though Grand is in the 3A classification. These two teams faced each other earlier in the season with Grand earning the 3-1 victory.

The Pirates forced five sets as they jumped up two classes to face the Red Devils. Grand took the first 25-14. The Pirates took set two 25-19. Grand came back taking set three 25-21, then in the fourth Green River fought back winning 25-22. Grand took the fifth and deciding set 15-11.

In the Monticello game on Tuesday, Green River pushed the No.5 team to four sets. The Lady Pirates took the first set 25-15.  Monticello came back taking the final three sets 25-14, 25-16 and 25-17.

The Pirates will get back at it this Saturday when they face No. 11 Monument Valley at home . Game time is set for 1:15.
